Irish pair Suzanne O'Brien and Alison Coffey will be chasing medals in the fourth and final round of the European Women's Championship in the Czech Republic today. O'Brien matched the par of 72 for the Karlovy Vary course, playing some of her best golf of the week - and so did Coffey. They are both on 217 in joint fourth position.

The leader is former French champion Karine Icher on 213, one ahead of Germany's Martina Eberl, and three in front of Italian Sophia Sandolo.

Dutchman Rolf Muntz rekindled his mastery of Gleneagles yesterday when a flawless six-under-par 66 gave him the first-round lead in the £250,000 Scottish PGA Championship. Two excellent halves of 33 gave him a one-shot lead over Sweden's Paul Nilbrink.

Galway teenager Mark O'Sullivan made an encouraging debut for Britain and Ireland in the boys's international match against the Continent of Europe at Burnham and Berrow. He was introduced in the singles and swept to a 4 and 3 victory over Switzerland's Raphael De Sousa. The home side led 2 1/2-1 1/2 after the foursomes and then shared the singles 4-4 for an overnight advantage of 6 1/2-5 1/2.
