The £12,000 Barrys Of Mallow Handicap may be small beer in comparison with the £850,000 Irish Derby but the common denominator at Cork tonight can be the winning jockey John Murtagh.

Sinndar's rider takes the mount on Irish Lady for local trainer Andrew Lee in the seven furlong event and this race looks a suitable opportunity for the filly who makes a quick reappearance after running fifth to Basin Street Blues at the Curragh on Saturday.

Warren O'Connor had a successful Curragh weekend also including a nerveless performance on Courageous on Sunday and the classic winning rider is worth the vote in the opening maiden.

O'Connor is on the Tommy Stack-trained Golden Hind who didn't run a bad race at all on his debut when sixth to Hardy at the Curragh. Golden Hind looks capable of stepping up on that and landing a not particularly inspiring contest.

The best bred horse of the day bar none has to be Moyglare's Gloriously Bright who bids for a valuable winning bracket in the nine furlong maiden.

A daughter of the champion sire Nureyev and the classic placed Group 2 winner Market Booster, Gloriously Bright is a very valuable filly anyway but a victory to her name can only help.

A debut fourth at Gowran behind Kermiyana, when an unconsidered 50 to 1 shot, indicated a measure of talent and Dermot Weld is sure to have tapped into that since. Murtagh's mount Tarwila is an obvious danger.

Riszard looks another local winner judged on a fine second to Colm's Rock at Gowran. The extra half mile of the handicap chase can only help John Joe Walsh's veteran while the Tralee winner Beacon Lane can take care of the other Tralee winner Gortmore Mews in the Beginners Chase.
