SUNDAY’S BELGRAVE Stakes winner Slade Power will be aimed at September’s Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock next and was described yesterday as a “consummate professional” by his trainer.
The weekend Fairyhouse victor won his second Listed race in a row but trainer Eddie Lynam says he is up to Group One class.
“He took the race brilliantly and he handled the ground better than I thought he would handle it. He’s obviously got a bit of class about him,” Lynam said.
“He’s going to have a little break now and then be prepared for the Betfred. After that he’ll just have one more race this year at Ascot in what used to be the Diadem.
“I only want to give him two more runs this year because I think he will be a lot better next year. He’s a lovely horse and has got a great attitude. He came home after his last race and ate up. He’s a consummate professional, a 100 per cent racehorse,” he added.
