BRUCE GROBBELAAR, who faces match-fixing charges in England early next year, has been named Zimbabwe's assistant player-coach. Grobbelaar, 38, accepted the post on Saturday after a two-hour meeting with Zimbabwe's football association and the country's newly-appointed Swiss coach Marc Duvillard.

Last week, Duvillard said he wanted to drop Grobbelaar from the team to give younger players a chance. Grobbelaar has been Zimbabwe's regular goalkeeper for the past five years. He also played for the country in the early 1980s.
