Gort CS won their third Connacht Colleges senior A hurling championship title in a one-sided final at Ballinderreen, Co Galway, yesterday.

A powerful first-half performance left Gort leading 3-13 to 0-0 at half-time. Joe Gantley scored two of their goals and Cathal Connolly notched the third.

The second half saw St Raphael's improve somewhat as they had four points from their best performer, Jason Collins.

St Brigid's VS, Loughrea took their 13th Connacht Vocational Schools senior A hurling title when they defeated Athenry VS 2-10 to 2-3 at Ballindereen yesterday.

Derek Mannion and John Brady goaled for Athenry midway through the first half, but they trailed 0-9 to 2-0 at halftime and Cathal Dervan and Kenneth Burke sent Loughrea on their way with second-half goals.
