Jordanstown golfer recovers from double-bogey to card one-under 71 in Florida

Stephanie Meadow recovered from a double-bogey on her first hole to card a one-under 71 in the fourth round of the LPGA qualifying tournament in Daytona Beach to remain firmly in contention to win one of the 20 cards on offer ahead of the final round.

The 22-year-old from Jordanstown is in a tie for 14th position on seven under par after her round on the Jones Course.

Meadow bounced back from her six on the opening hole with a birdie at the par-five second.

Ten straight pars gave way to the best part of her round as she carded three birdies in four holes from the 13th before dropping a shot on the 17th.

The top 20 after Sunday’s final round claim “full-time” status on the LPGA Tour while players who finish between 21st and 45th will have “conditional” status.

South Korea’s Ha Na Jang is three shots clear at the top of the leaderboard on 15 under after carding a 68, with Spain’s Maria Hernandez in second on 12 under after a brilliant 65 .

Former world number one amateur Minjee Lee is alone in third, the 18-year-old Australian having carded a 66 in her fourth round.
