Racing Metro 24 Edinburgh 27:A DROP goal by Phil Godman with the last move of the game kept Edinburgh's hopes on track after a titanic win over Racing Metro last night.

Jonathan Wisniewski’s penalty had put Racing ahead for the first time in the 70th minute before Greig Laidlaw levelled to set up Godman for the dramatic winner.

The visitors went ahead after 14 minutes, when Ross Rennie powered through a couple of tackles to score under the posts, with Laidlaw adding the two points.

Racing hit back after 24 minutes, Fabrice Estebanez ending a period of pressure to score, but Edinburgh responded through Netani Talei and led by seven at the break.

That lead was wiped put after half-time when Juan Imhoff broke clear down the right wing and superbly sidestepped Chris Paterson to score, with Fernandez converting. Racing were now looking dominant as they upped the pace, but a dropped ball by Chabal gave Edinburgh the chance to reply and Dave Denton showed amazing speed for a flanker to race 25 metres to score.

The French side refused to be knocked out of their stride and Antoine Battut’s converted try in the 58th minute levelled the match again to set up that dramatic finish.
