Go Fallon

Kieren Fallon will be riding at both Goodwood and Lingfield on Saturday, it emerged yesterday. The British champion jockey will use a helicopter to get from one track to the other. The two courses are 47 miles apart.

Fallon will start off at Lingfield where he will partner Ramruna for his boss Henry Cecil in the Victor Chandler Oaks Trial (2.40). He also rides in the 2.10 and 3.10 races before moving on to Goodwood.

There he will be on Border Arrow in the climax of the inaugural Europe versus the Middle East races, the £100,000 Dubai City of Gold Shergar Cup Classic at 4.25.

Border Arrow's team-mates in that final race will include last year's Tote Cambridgeshire winner Lear Spear, for whom David Elsworth has booked Cash Asmussen.

"The horse is very well and has been crying out for a mile and a quarter," said Elsworth. "In the two races he has run in this season there has been no gallop. He was finishing very well when he was fourth at Sandown and got no sort of a run at Newmarket before that. He wants a truly-run race."

Frankie Dettori will be riding Godolphin-owned horses in all six events in the team competition on Saturday. He rides Blue Melody in the Tote Shergar Cup Sprint, Diktat in the Dubai Sports Shergar Cup Seven and Song of Freedom in the Coolmore Stud Handicap Shergar Cup being the exceptions.

"Obviously Frankie will be riding for us all the time," said Godophin's racing manager Simon Crisford yesterday, "and we know what he is on in the races where we have only one runner. Daragh O'Donohoe will be an invaluable part of the back-up riding team, but at this stage we do not know exactly who will be riding which horses in the races where we have more than one runner."
