Leitrim remain unbeaten in 2014 following their Division Four victory over Carlow at Páirc Seán Mhic Diarmada, Carrick-on-Shannon, yesterday.

The sides were level at two points a piece after 15 minutes but six Leitrim points to one from Carlow gave the home side a deserved 0-8 to 0-4 lead at the interval.

Carlow’s Séamus Kinsella reduced the arrears immediately on the resumption but the dismissal of substitute Mark Brennan in the 38th minute handed Leitrim the advantage. They went on to score six more points as the Carlow challenge faded. However in the 55th minute a speculative ball into the Leitrim defence by Willie Minchin was finished to the net by the alert Kinsella to give Carlow hope.

That was as good as it got for the visitors as once more Leitrim added a further four points and although Carlow were to score the last two points of the game by then it was too little too late.
