DCU maintain their perfect O’Byrne Cup record

Referee Cormac Reilly issued two black cards – one to each team – as Dublin City University maintained their 100 per cent record in this year’s O’Byrne Cup with a deserved six-point victory over Westmeath in St Loman’s Lakepoint Park in Mullingar last night.

Goals from Conor McGreanor (ninth minute) and Paddy Fox (33rd minute) helped the students to a 2-6 to 0-7 interval lead.

Paul Sharry (42nd minute) and substitute Dessie Dolan (53rd minute) found the net to bring Westmeath back into contention.

However, the college side had more fire-power in attack, with Conor McHugh always prominent in the full-forward line.
