Louth 1-14 Limerick 0-6:LOUTH CARRIED their O'Byrne Cup form into the league with a comfortable win over Limerick in Drogheda yesterday.
Eamonn McEneaney’s side scored three points in the opening five minutes.
Mickey Ned O’Sullivan’s men found their feet in the 10th minute when Ian Ryan floated over the first of his four first-half points.
Limerick continued to enjoy the better of the exchanges, but a goal against the run of play revived Louth’s fortunes. A speculative Darren Clarke effort dropped short and JP Rooney tapped home from the breakdown.
Limerick were down by a goal at half-time, 1-5 to 0-5, but their last score of the game came early in the second half and thereafter Louth pulled away to win by eight points.
