MICKEY FLYNN bowed out of the training ranks in the best possible way at Kilbeggan last evening when he saddled Conagher Boy to land the J A Shaw Beginners Chase to initiate a 35/1 double at a well-attended Kilbeggan last evening.
The 32-year-old former jockey, who has held a training licence since the end of 1993 said, after he sent out his 23rd winner: "I love training, but it's no longer that viable".
Recently-crowned Amateur Champion, Ruby Walsh helped Flynn to record a double when sweeping clear after the turn-in on Audacious Dancer to land the concluding bumper from Digital Signal.
Flynn, who trained The Carrig Rua to win a bumper, two hurdle races and a novice chase said after his 24th success: "I came here with two horses in with a chance and that's my first double. No regrets!"
Richard Dunwoody, who finished out of the frame at Mondello Park on Sunday returned to the day job in typical winning style, before an estimated 8,000 attendence, when opening his Irish seasonal account aboard Dunferne Classic in the Bank Of Ireland Maiden Hurdle.
