After three stages of the Dunboyne three-day race Mark Flavin of the Carrick-Cidona team leads by seven seconds from Pat Byrne (Dublin Wheelers) with David Woods (Ushers IRC) third another three seconds behind. There were bunch sprints at the end of the first and third stages, but it was the time trial over 3.5 miles yesterday morning that proved decisive as Flavin was clearly fastest from both Byrne and Woods.

On Saturday a group of 92 were together in the charge to the line at the end of the 70 mile stage, Declan Hanrahan finishing first ahead of John O'Brien. Yesterday afternoon there was another mass sprint and it was John-Paul Hilliard of Les Jeunes who won with Emerald clubmates Paul Hicks and Peter Dunne in next. Flavin, Byrne and Woods were also close by allowing them to head the overall classification leading into today's final stage of 74 miles.
