TJ Dowling overcame a difficult opponent in Gregory Kopec from France as the world under-21 snooker championships continued in Carlow.

The Irish national champion was perhaps a touch fortunate to remain unbeaten following his latest group D game as the stylish Kopec threatened to upset the cards.

However, Dowling was always in touch with his opponent and in spite of being pulled back to 3-all, took the decisive frame by 71 pts. to 19.
