BOXING: Geesala welterweight Henry Coyle produced the biggest shock of the tournament when defeating Arklow's James Moore in the National Senior Championships at the National Stadium last night.

The two men were tied at the end of the second round but a quick succession of punches in the final round from Coyle eventually saw him win out on a 17-12 scoreline.

The night began with Baldoyle teenager Conor Ahern taking the light-flyweight title with a 17-8 victory over Ross Hickey.

Despite coming back to tie the flyweight contest in the third round, Thomas Lee was unable to prevent his opponent Paul Hyland from retaining his title.
