Women's Football National League:Cork were given one of their hardest tests yet by Galway in yesterday's National Football League Division One B game at Tuam. Galway scored three early goals from Philomena Flatley, Yvonne Daly and Ann Marie McDonagh but Cork had reduced the deficit to two points at half-time and eventually prevailed 0-14 to 3-4.

In Division One A Armagh were pushed by Waterford before winning 1-5 to 0-4 at O'Toole Park, Dublin. Armagh started well with points from Caroline O'Hanlon and Maeve Moriarty before Mags McAlinden struck the net as Waterford trailed by 1-3 to 0-1 at the break. Armagh sealed victory with points from Aileen Matthews and Moriarty.

Eight points from Tracy Lawlor helped Laois book their quarter-finals place with a 0-16 to 1-7 win over Tyrone at Slane.

Una McNally's goal gave Monaghan a 1-1 to 0-1 interval lead against Meath. A goal (Gráinne Nulty) and six points in 10 minutes settled the tie for Meath.

Kildare beat Donegal 1-9 to 1-7 in Bundoran. An Aodhin McBride goal helped them to a 1-5 to 0-4 interval lead while Kerry were defeated by Mayo, 0-12 to 1-7.

Division One A: Armagh 1-5 Waterford 0-4; Laois 0-16 Tyrone 1-7; Mayo 0-12 Kerry 1-7. Division One B: Cork 0-14 Galway 3-4; Kildare 1-9 Donegal 1-7; Meath 1-10 Monaghan 2-2.
