Munster SHC semi-final replay: Ballygunner (Waterford) v Toomevara (Tipperary), Walsh Park, 2.00 - AS ON the scoreboard, there wasn't much to choose between the sides in general play last week. Ballygunner were stronger and better at winning possession but still depend too much on Paul Flynn. Generally reliable, he still misfires the odd time and that cost the Waterford champions the verdict six days ago - although they wouldn't have been close without him. Toomevara missed a bit as well but looked more purposeful during their spells in the ascendant. If they can expand those intervals even a little they should reach the final.

Tomorrow

Connacht SFC final: Annaghdown (Galway) v Charlestown (Mayo), Tuam Stadium, 2.00 - THESE sides have much in common, principally their strong units and freedom from reliance on individual players but also an energetic running game. Both also came through their counties as underdogs and took some big scalps en route.

Although Annaghdown have no county players, the statistic is misleading as the club has a number of promising young players who will presumably get a crack at inter-county before long. Full forward Michael Newell is one and he played the Connacht semi-final with a dislocated shoulder. The Galway champions have one survivor from their previous county winners 13 years ago, Murt Duggan. Veteran midfielders have a good record at club level with Gerry Burke and Mick Leahy central to Corofin's and Kilmacud's All-Irelands. But the preference for the Mayo champions is based on their efficient and adaptable defence and the suspicion that their hitlist to date is slightly superior to Annaghdown's.

Munster SFC final: Nemo Rangers (Cork) v Fethard (Tipperary), Fermoy, 2.30 - FETHARD'S gutsy win over Drom-Broadford a week ago was a fair effort a few days after their county final but after only one more week they are moving up a weight or two to take on the Munster champions, who are also the brand leaders in club football. Steven O'Brien is bothered by injury but even if he doesn't make the cut, the Cork champions look to have too much in the tank.

Ulster SFC final: Ballinderry (Derry) v Mayobridge (Down), Casement Park, 2.00 -

An attractive Ulster final brings together two bright, attacking sides. Mayobridge have the edge in experience, having contested the province two years ago. Mickey Linden is the best-known player but up-and-coming Benny Coulter and Mickey Walsh have also made names for themselves. Both sides are confident in their forwards and will try and move the ball quickly into space. One of the influences will be how Ballinderry's stronger-looking conventional midfield will cope with the congestion in the area that their opponents' more fluid game will cause. Mayobridge, narrowly.

Leinster SFC semi-final: Na Fianna (Dublin) v Sarsfields (Kildare), Navan, 2.00

Given manager John Courtney's assessment that Sarsfields are 20 per cent less effective without Niall Buckley, they'll be starting at quite a disadvantage. Na Fianna weren't as assured in defeating Portarlington as the scoreline suggested but with even a competent input from their forwards, look good enough to win this.

Leinster SFC quarter-final second replay: Rathnew (Wicklow) v Dunshaughlin (Meath), 2.00

How many more times can Dunshaughlin and Rathnew let each other off the hook? Whereas the Wicklow champions pulled last week's match out of the fire with admirable nerve in extra time, they let a two-point lead slip in injury-time at the end of the hour. Dunshaughlin do appear to be settling and playing better and should finally do it this time.

Leinster SHC semi-final: Faythe Harriers (Wexford) v Castletown (Laois), Kilkenny, 2.00 - CASTLETOWN have a good record against Wexford champions and will need it, although the current team is fairly established after a third county title. They won't be easily broken down but Faythe present a high-scoring challenge. Both sides have significant injury worries, with Faythe's county hurler Barry Goff bothered with a hand injury and Castletown's influential centre forward John O'Sullivan trying to shake off a leg injury. Not much in it but Faythe's more expansive potential should shade it.
