Tomorrow he is expected to add another All-Ireland medal to his vast collection, this time in handball, when he and his fellow Kilkennyman Michael "Duxie" Walsh, play in the final of the 40 X 20 senior doubles - a title which they won in 1994 and '95.

Their opponents are the Antrim pair of Paddy Crothers and John McGarry, from the Gort na Mona club in Belfast. The matches takes place on the home patch of the Kilkennymen, the O'Loughlin Gaels club. Their match will be the fourth on a programme which starts at 5.30. Carey already has a dozen All-Ireland handball medals to his credit in a number of different competitions, and has also represented Ireland internationally. Walsh won his 34th senior medal last Saturday when he beat Ciaran Curran from Tyrone to win the 40 X 20 singles title.
