An American boxer who had brain surgery after being knocked out in a bout three days ago has died

An American boxer who had brain surgery after being knocked out in a bout three days ago has died. Johnny Montantes, a professional junior welterweight from Las Vegas, died last night at University Medical Centre in his home town.

The 28-year-old underwent surgery following the fight on Friday when he was knocked down by a hard right hand from James Crayton of Las Vegas in the fifth round.
