Boss Doyle, a leading Cheltenham Gold Cup hopeful, will make his seasonal debut in the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby on October 31st.

Trainer Mouse Morris said yesterday: "Hopefully Tony McCoy will ride - he has ridden Boss Doyle in most of his big races."

Last season Boss Doyle won the Mumm Mildmay Novices' Chase at Aintree and had earlier been beaten a length when giving 7lb to Gold Cup favourite Florida Pearl at Leopardstown. He ended the season by falling at the Punchestown festival.

Bahhare, a one-time leading contender for last year's Newmarket 2,000 Guineas after an unbeaten juvenile career, has been retired and will stand at Derrinstown Stud at a fee of 4,000 guineas.

Trained by John Dunlop, Bahhare was the second top-rated two-year-old of 1996 in Britain, having won the Laurent-Perrier Champagne Stakes at Doncaster. But he failed to make the Guineas line-up after suffering a pelvic injury and though he returned to finish third in the Champion Stakes, more niggling problems kept him off the racecourse this season.

The Minister for Finance Charlie McCreevy will officially open the new £2 million stand at Naas on Sunday when the feature race is the £25,000 Birdcatcher Nursery. Building on the new complex began last November and it contains new bars, a restaurant and corporate suites on the top floor.
