FOR the second time in two weeks, Olympic basketball champion centre Hakeem Olajuwon has been hospitalised with an irregular heart beat.

The Nigerian-born National Basketball Association star was listed in "very good condition" in Houston, Texas, yesterday after being admitted that morning.

Olajuwon, who had anemia in 1995, flew back to Texas from Washington after scoring 34 points and pulling down 17 points to lead the Rockets to a 103-99 victory at Washington.

Olajuwon missed seven games in 1991 with a similar heart problem. The previous season he had clotting problems and was treated with blood thinners.

He was also admitted to hospital after a November 19th against Minnesota. He underwent an exercise stress test and an echo cardiogram. Both tests were normal and Olajuwon was released from the hospital two days later.

After taking a week off and missing three games, he returned last Tuesday and scored 21 points in Houston's 102-101 overtime victory over the Portland Trail Blazers. Olajuwon had 17 points and 13 rebounds in a 120-94 win at Boston on Friday night.
