It was apprentice day at Brighton where Neil Pollard and Craig Carver both rode doubles. Pollard rode a 29 to 1 couple at the seaside course on Willie Conquer and Ivory Dawn, while Carver's pair were Hand Craft and Rita's Rock Ape for a 34 to 1 return.

Willie Conquer had the rest well-beaten in the John Bloor Memorial Handicap and gave winning trainer David Elsworth a boost for his chances with Lear Spear in Saturday's Coral-Eclipse Stakes at Sandown.
