DIVISION TWO:FOLLOWING AN unexpected reversal at the hands of Mayo last time out, Westmeath's hurlers got back on track with an emphatic 3-19 to 0-9 drubbing of Wicklow at Cusack Park, Mullingar.

Westmeath are top of Division One A, with Kerry and Kildare - who met yesterday in Newbridge - also on six points. Kildare had no answer to Kerry's ability to score goals, with the visitors winning 4-13 to 0-11.

In Division Two B, Carlow climbed to the top of the table after a hard-earned 3-15 to 1-10 victory over 14-man Armagh at Dr Cullen Park, Carlow.

Armagh were dealt a huge blow in the 26th minute when an off-the-ball incident saw wing forward Cathal Carvill issued with a red card.

Carlow will need to beat Derry at Dr Cullen Park on Sunday to assure themselves of promotion after Derry shocked Down, 2-19 to 3-14 yesterday.
