What price a hole in one? The Amateur championships so far this season have produced no less than six holes in one. Pat Murray (Tipperary) was first to make the magic one when he sank his tee shot at the par four 16th at Royal Dublin during the Irish Amateur Strokeplay championship.

Then it was the turn of Irish Youths team Captain, John Brett. The Douglas man holed out at the fifth during the Irish Seniors championship at Thurles.

Beaverstown's Gary Cullen was next when he aced the ninth during the qualifying rounds of the Irish Amateur Close championship at the Island. Two holes in one were recorded in the Irish Youths championship at Headfort. Mark Butler from Athlone and Alaistair Eagle of Tandragee both aced the par three 8th and last week at Arklow, Felix Murphy from Cill Dara holed his tee shot at the 11th in the Leinster Boys' championship to bring the total to six.
