Paul McGee from Killinbeg holed his tee shot at the eighth hole but it did not see his club qualify for the latter stages of the Jimmy Bruen Shield (Leinster Section) at Balbriggan over the weekend. The qualifiers were led home by the host club Balbriggan on 334, the same mark as the second qualifiers, Seapoint. Balbriggan continued their good work by qualifying for the Leinster finals by beating Greenore 3-1/2 - 1-1/2. Rathsallagh qualified from Mountrath, beating the home club 3-1/2 - 1-1/2 , while Co Longford also came through with a 3-1/2 - 1-1/2 win over Moate at Co Longford. Malahide and Sutton were the other two qualifiers from Rush.
