Sir, - In your Editorial (February 12th) on school supervision and substitution arrangements, you state that the "ASTI and TUI are right to demand that the payment should be made pensionable, for those teachers who opt to provide this service ".

Lest there be any misunderstanding, having the supervision payment made pensionable is also an INTO demand and something we intend, together with our second-level colleagues, to achieve.

During the INTO ballot on the negotiated offer last November, each member received a briefing document which included an assurance to the effect that securing the inclusion of the new payment for pension purposes would be an immediate INTO objective. This remains the position.
