Sir, - It is with no pleasure that I note that the chickens are already beginning to come home to roost as a result of Charlie McCreevy's hare-brained savings scheme.

The cost to the taxpayer could never be accurately estimated and we are now confronted with the prospect that the less well-off will have to suffer the cutbacks and increased taxation to bail the Minister out. What will happen to the economy when the scheme matures is anyone's guess.

Would all those who joined the scheme now consider letting the Minister and the rest of us off the hook and agree to its scrapping? It is quite clear now that the scheme is nothing but an additional tax cut for the well-off. - Yours, etc.,
