Madam, – I note that Andrew Abbott (May 4th) cites the low attendance (3,000) at the recent unpublicised Government Easter 1916 commemoration as evidence of a lack of public interest.
Some 120,000 attended the 95th anniversary parade in 2006 when it was widely advertised.
Generally, one finds the public follow whatever is accorded media priority. – Yours, etc,
