Sir, – The appointment of Shane Ross as Minister for Transport was a clever move by Enda Kenny. Mr Ross will have to break the news to his Independent colleague, Sean Canney TD, that the Western Rail Corridor is a dead duck. I hope this policy will not be decided on the basis of tossing a coin!
A facility for cyclists and walkers, similar to the greenway between Achill and Westport, would be a far more sensible use of the disused railway line, and one which should bring significantly increased tourism revenue to the area. – Yours, etc,
