Creative advantage of youth?

Sir, – Dick Ahlstrom poses an interesting question in his Innovation Talk column “Creative advantage of youth is an age-old question” (June 23rd), when he asks from which generation do the best ideas come, the young or the old?

It is true that Einstein had his theory on relativity ready for print at 26, and Darwin had thought out his theory of natural selection by the time he was 27, but ideas are about thinking, not doing.

The practical benefits of these wonderful ideas were applied to the problems of the day by an older, shrewder generation. – Yours, etc,
