Sir, – With key elections in the US and Israel on the horizon, and the war in Iran creating more instability by the day, Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank continue to endure persecution.

In a podcast, Israel’s far-right national security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir unashamedly calls for the systematic killing of Palestinians in Gaza. Families living in the West Bank now face endless attacks and intimidation from settlers, as IDF soldiers either applaud their actions or conveniently turn a blind eye.

Given the degree of violence being perpetrated in the Occupied Territories, for how long more can the UN, EU and the Irish Government remain bystanders? – Yours, etc,

MICHAEL CULLEN,
