Sir, – Just as I never asked to bail-out banks, I also never agreed to subsidise homeowners’ decisions to voluntarily enter into loan agreements that would be subject to interest rate increases (“Mortgage relief back on agenda after ECB rate rise”, News, May 5th).
Mortgage holders are not entitled to pay the same for their mortgage indefinitely, unless that is agreed upon with their bank. I presume that I, as a renter, will receive a discount to my monthly rent along with these measures?
There are better uses for the tax windfalls of late, and perhaps the Government could use this money to instead construct houses for those of us not fortunate enough to already own our own home. – Is mise,
