DURBAN - One of the five wives of Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini was seriously injured in an attack at her palace in a South African township, writes Edward O'Loughlin.

Queen Buhle MaMathe Zulu was shot, stabbed and beaten with clubs by supporters of the Zulu based Inkatha Freedom Party, an African National Congress spokesman said. Her daughter and four friends were also hurt.

Last night's incident could have serious implications for the already tense situation in Kwazulu Natal.
