A young man was shot seven times in the back and legs in a suspected punishment shooting in Downpatrick, Co Down, on Tuesday night, according to the RUC. Fringe republican paramilitaries linked to the INLA are being blamed. Two masked men smashed through a window of the house in Russell Park shortly after 11 p.m. and singled out the 22year-old man. The victim was shot once in the lower back and three times in each leg.
