Donald Trump has condemned the Parsons Green tube terror attack, saying those responsible were “sick and demented people”.

In a tweet, the US president said the perpetrators were “in the sights” of Scotland Yard and called for a “proactive” response.

“Another attack in London by a loser terrorist,” he wrote. “These are sick and demented people who were in the sights of Scotland Yard. Must be proactive!”

British prime minister Theresa May said her thoughts were with those who had been injured at Parsons Green.

“My thoughts are with those injured at Parsons Green and the emergency services who, once again, are responding swiftly and bravely to a suspected terrorist incident,” Ms May said in the statement.

A meeting of COBR, the emergency response committee, was due to begin at noon.
