A man who climbed to the top of a crane and said he wanted to jump at a building site on Ringsend Road Dublin yesterday, was eventually talked down by the crane-driver and building workers.

The three-hour drama began when workers at the Cruson Developments apartment-site found the man - believed to be a local - had climbed up to the crane-driver's cabin.

A spokesman for the Garda Press office said the man was in a distressed state.

At about 4.40 p.m. the man returned to the ground and was taken to St Vincent's Hospital where his condition was described as comfortable.
