THE number of women MPs should top loo for the first time after the May 1st election in Britain, according to a survey. The list of women candidates shows that more women than ever have been selected for safe or winnable seats.
However, according to research by the Fawcett Society, the women's rights campaign group, the number of female candidates selected by the Conservative party amounted to less than half those put forward by labour and the Liberal Democrats.
"If Labour wins even with a fairly small majority, there will be over loo women MPs for the first time in history. There are 63 at the moment and that's the highest it's ever been," said a spokeswoman for the Fawcett Group.
