A file is being prepared for the DPP after detectives foiled a possible sexual assault in Limerick early yesterday morning. They saved a woman in her 20s from an attacker who tried to drag her down a laneway.

The woman was walking home along Upper Hartstronge Street at 2.45 a.m. when she was grabbed as she drew level with the junction of Mallow Street. She clung to railings and her screams were heard by two detectives from Roxboro station on routine patrol. A man was caught after a chase and brought to Henry Street.
