Police in Belfast are hunting a man who assaulted a 71-year-old grandmother during a robbery at her house last night.

Police in Belfast are hunting a man who assaulted a 71-year-old grandmother during a robbery at her house last night.

The woman was watching television with her daughter and two granddaughters at her home off Blacks Road in Dunmurry at around 11.30pm when the man smashed a pane of glass in the front door.

A PSNI spokesman said the assailant reached in and snatched a set of keys from a hall table.

When the woman tried to stop him, he reportedly grabbed her by the hair and tried to pull her onto the broken glass.

The spokesman said the woman was dragged to safety by the two girls.

The attacker made off in the woman's car, which was later found abandoned in the Lagmore/White Rise area of south Belfast.

Police said they are seeking two men seen near the house shortly before the incident.
