A man (38) received a wound to the leg as he struggled with a gunman at Jonesborough market in south Co Armagh this morning.
The victim was setting up his chip van when approached by a masked man at 7.15 a.m. A shot was fired injuring the man in hte thigh. In the struggle that ensued, a second shot was discharged from the assailant's shotgun but it did not cause injury.
The gunman then escaped in a waiting car. Police say a number of other people were in the car which was found, a short while later, burnt out on the Edenappa road across the border.
