An Ulster Unionist delegation led by Mr Ken Maginnis MP has met the RUC Chief Constable to express concern at the growing number of sectarian attacks on Catholics.

The Sinn Fein chairman, Mr Mitchel McLaughlin, has called on Ulster Unionists who helped end last summer's loyalist feud in Belfast to use their influence to stop the current violence.

A man was recovering in hospital last night after shots were fired at his house on the Castlerobin Road in south Belfast. It is understood his injuries were caused by flying glass. In Bushmills, Co Antrim, four shots were fired at a house on Dunluce Road. No one was hurt.
