The United Arab Emirates (UAE) said today it would contribute in any way possible to international efforts to eradicate terrorism following devastating attacks on the United States.

"We affirm to you our desire and intention to contribute in any possible way to any international campaign to eradicate terrorism in all its forms and shapes," the official UAE news agency quoted UAE President Sheikh Zaid bin Sultan al-Nahayan as saying in telegrams to US President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Sheikh Zaid's comments were the most specific and sweeping the Gulf state has so far made about the attacks. UAE government ministers earlier in the week pledged to cooperate with the probe into the atrocities and expressed general support for the fight against terrorism.
