LONDON - The British millionaire businessman and Chelsea soccer club co owner, Mr Matthew Harding, has pledged £1 million to Labour, the party said last night. It said he had declared that he wanted to help the Labour leader, Mr Tony Blair, change the country.

"I have never believed that being wealthy means being Tory and I think New Labour has a far greater understanding of the enterprise economy than many people in the Tory Party said Mr Harding. A Tory Party spokesman declined to comment.
