MOSCOW - Gunmen killed the financial director of Moscow's top ranked Spartak football club and another woman in a dacha east of the capital in the second big sports killing in two months, ITAR-TASS reported yesterday.
According to investigators quoted by the agency, the killers on Sunday burst into the dacha in Petushki where the business manager, Ms Larissa Nechaeva, was meeting a female colleague.
One of the theories being studied by police, according to NTV television, is that Ms Nechaeva's efforts to find sponsorship had led her into contact with criminal groups.
