Two men were arrested today over a knife attack.

Two men were arrested today over a knife attack.

Police said the pair were being questioned in connection with stabbing two other men during disturbances in the Markets area of south Belfast.

Trouble broke out in the early hours of Friday morning and police called to the scene found a crowd of up to 30 people.

One of the men stabbed in the disturbance is in a serious condition in the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast while the other is stable.

Another two men were treated in hospital for head injuries suffered during the violence.

Police later said the two arrested men had been released on bail pending further inquiries.
