Detectives in Northern Ireland are questioning two men over the murder of a 39-year-old man at a rural pub in Co Derry.

Gary Butcher (39), from the village of Magilligan, died after a disturbance in Bob’s Bar and Bistro on the Seacoast Road between Limavady and Benone early on Saturday morning.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at around 1am yesterday.

Two men, aged 19 and 25, were arrested after the killing.

A third man in his 50s, who was arrested yesterday in connection with the killing, has been released on bail.

The premises remained cordoned off throughout yesterday as forensic officers carried out examinations.

Sinn Féin Assembly member for East Derry Billy Leonard said local people were devastated. “This news is absolutely tragic and families are now left reeling with shock and finding it hard to come to terms with the situation.
