Two men were today being questioned by police in Northern Ireland about a crash which left a female pedestrian fighting for life.

The woman, 58, was critically injured when she was struck by a car outside Dromore, Co Down, yesterday.

The incident took place at the junction of the Dromore Road and the main A1 Belfast-Newry road and police said the area was busy at the time of the incident at about 3.10pm.

Police said they wanted to hear from anyone who saw two men running towards the centre of Dromore from the scene, or who saw the silver BMW 3 Series involved in the accident in the area before the crash.

A section of the main A1 was sealed off overnight but reopened today.
