Two men charged in connection with the discovery of explosives and a large quantity of ammunition in Sligo in September were further remanded until next January at the Special Criminal Court in Dublin today.

Wayne Kelly(23), of Cranmore Villas, Cranmore, Sligo is charged with the unlawful possession of an explosive substance - 21 kilogrammes of ammonium nitrate and icing sugar- at his home on September 6th

Gerard Mooney (38), of St Anne's Terrace, Sligo is charged with the unlawful possession of 5,060 rounds of assorted ammunition at his home on Saturday. Mooney was also charged with membership of an unlawful organisation styling itself the IrishRepublican Army, otherwise Oglaigh na hEireann, otherwise the IRA on September 6th.

The court further remanded the two men on continuing bail until January 13th next.
