Two men appeared in court in Limerick yesterday in connection with an assault on a man who died in the city in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Mr Darren Wallace (20) of Assumpta Park, in St Mary's Park and Mr Jonathan Touhy (19) from Edward's Street in Limerick City were both charged with assault at a special sitting of Limerick District Court.

The man who died was 43-year-old Mr Noel Carmody, a native of Ballingarry, Co Limerick.
