Two held over attempted murder

A man has been arrested over the attempted murder of Derry civil servant Paul McCauley.

A man has been arrested over the attempted murder of Derry civil servant Paul McCauley.

The suspect (36) was detained in the city this morning by detectives, a police spokeswoman said. He is being questioned at Strand Road police station. A second man (21) was also arrested today Derry in connection with the attack.

Mr McCauley was left in a permanent vegetative state after he was attacked at a barbecue in July 2006.

Daryll Proctor is serving a 12-year-sentence for causing Mr McCauley grievous bodily harm.
